For 10 years, students and staff at Aeolian Elementary were missing one thing- a school library.
Parents, staff, students, and the community at Aeolian Elementary rallied together to make a dream come true for many of our students.
Purchasing bookcases, signs, and fixtures from the local Borders Bookstore's close-out sale, parent volunteers pick them up, deliver them to the school, and set up every shelf and sign.
However, having the bookshelves was simply the beginning. A library simply isn't a library without books.
Students held book drives and donated their beloved classics. Local businesses answered our cries and donated boxes of books. Organizations like BookEnds and The Bring Me a Book Foundation donated thousands of books. All in all, we were able to collect over 14,000 books.
Southern California Edison donated laptops to help students research their books using our online catalog system—Follet.
Our beautiful library is now located in Room 5 with shiny new RED flooring with light blue walls to go with the Seuss theme. Our students visit the library every week and are able to check out three books. Our librarian, Lea Trujillo reads to our students each visit.
Make sure you come by and visit our beautiful library!!
