Aeolian Celebrates the NEW Mural Dec. 18, 2015

We danced and celebrated the new mural on Friday morning with our Parent Teacher Club who approved the purchase of the mural using funds raised over the past two years.  Artist, Jeanine Hattas has painted murals at both LNMS and Rancho Santa Gertrudes Elementary School and we couldn't wait to have her come to Aeolian.

Our HUGE ball wall for years has been plain and boring.  Now it is full of life and color as it depicts the front of Aeolian Elementary School and students saying, "Goodbye" to their parents for the day.  As they walk into the school it turns into a futuristic Aztec Rain Forest.  The Aztecs are learning, playing, and growing.  They are engaged in Science, Art, Gardening, Teaching, Reading, Playing Ball and on the swings, and there is also an Aztec who has graduated and stands atop the pyramid signifying SUCCESS!

The mural consists of the 4 C's: Collaboration, Critical Thinking, Creativity, and Communication.  These are all things that Aeolian teachers and students are working on daily in the classroom. The mural also has targets throughout to become an interactive ball wall for our students to be able to hit the targets while playing handball.

We raised over $1,000 by selling "name dedications" which were painted on leaves at the bottom of the mural.  Students will be able to bring their own children to Aeolian decades from now and share this great memory with them.

Thank you again to the Aeolian Community for supporting this great feat!
