On Back-to-School Night, the community arrived in great numbers! Starting at 4:00 our Parent Teacher Club (PTC) hosted a taco sale along with sign-ups for the different events for the upcoming months and selling t-shirts! Overall, PTC made $804 in two hours!! Our cafeteria staff set-up a table to pass out information to the parents about the new changes coming to our Aztec Cafe this year, including our new CATCH Salad Bar! Children received a CATCH bag and a healthy bracelet.
LNSD's partnership with PIH continues this year working on the Healthy Los Nietos project focusing on implementing the CATCH program in order to increase physical activity and nutritious eating. Doctors from PIH were in attendance at our B2SN passing out information and getting to know our parents. The residents from the hospital will be visiting each of the LNSD schools twice each month talking with our students on a different topic each visit. Dr. Brigida Davila spoke to the community about two opportunities that parents can get involved in connected to the Healthy Los Nietos project. Parents in Action and also to serve as a CATCH Champion parent on our school and district CATCH Committee. If you would like more information, please see Principal Speh.
Principal Speh welcomed all parents, introduced the teaching staff, and talked about the purpose of B2SN. Parents are encouraged to partner with their child's teacher in order to support their child's ultimate success. She also introduced Emilio Sosa, this year's PTC President, who shared all of the different ways parents could get involved in supporting the great programs we have at Aeolian.
Parents were then dismissed to their child's classroom to hear the grade level expectations and to meet the teacher. Overall, it was a great evening focused on making connections, partnering with one another, and getting focused on supporting our students' success! Thank you all for coming!
