Aeolian’s Science Olympiad Team Celebrates their Gold Medal Achievement at Shakey’s Pizza on 3/12/13
On February 23, 2013, students from Aeolian and Rancho Santa Gertrudes Schools participated in the Science Olympiad held at Occidental College. Students at both schools put in time afterschool to prepare themselves for the highly academic competition. Both schools competed in a field of 51 other schools from across Los Angeles County. After a long day of competition, the Rancho Santa Gertrudes School team was awarded a silver medal and Aeolian’s team was awarded a gold medal for their stellar efforts.

The Science Olympiad is an international, non-profit organization devoted to improving the quality of science education, increasing student interest in science and providing recognition for outstanding achievement in science education by both students and teachers. These goals are accomplished through classroom activities, research, training workshops and the encouragement of intramural, district, regional, state and national tournaments. The Science Olympiad tournaments are rigorous, academic, interscholastic competitions that consist of a series of individual and team events, which students prepare for during the year.

To celebrate their accomplishment, the Aeolian Team celebrated at Shakey’s Pizza with their principal (Becky Speh) and team advisors (Steve Risser, Stephen Jurardo, and Diana Mireles) on March 12, 2013. Congratulations are given to both schools for competing and representing the Los Nietos School District in such an outstanding fashion!!
